The 1943 Disney Handbook is a fascinating workplace and HR time capsule from an era when women were apparently delicate creatures who were allocated twice as much sick time as the guys. But on the other hand, the guys had exclusive access to the Penthouse Club – “Men only! Sorry gals…”
It’s a fascinating glimpse into a workplace of yesteryear. It’s interesting to see how times change. Wartime is also a permeating theme in the document, from car pools to help ameliorate gas and tire rationing, to violation of the US Espionage Act as grounds for dismissal.
