Drug Free Workplace and D.O.T. Compliance Program
|
The Drug Free Workplace Act requires employers who conduct $25,000 or more in business with the federal government to provide a drug free workplace environment. The key compliance issues include creating a Drug Free Workplace policy, conducting drug and alcohol awareness training, as well as offering treatment options for employees abusing drugs in the workplace. For clients needing assistance, EAP consultants guide and assist in the development of a comprehensive program.
The Omnibus Transportation Testing Act mandates alcohol and drug testing of safety-sensitive employees in the transportation and pipeline industries. For over a decade, we have been a leader in developing Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) compliance programs. And now this entire program is available to client organizations via the Internet. By simply logging-on and entering the appropriate password, employers have access to up-to-date policies and procedures. There are links to all the necessary resources including drug testing sites and Substance Abuse Professionals, (SAPs). In addition, we include the on-line training programs needed to assure that managers and supervisors meet the federal training requirements.
Consider these statistics:
Drug-using employees take three times as many sick benefits as other workers. They are five times more likely to file a worker's compensation claim.
